Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman states that today's composition of the Ukrainian Parliament must continue working and taking decisions and considers that snap parliamentary election would hinder the reformation of the country.

Groysman told this to journalists at a press conference on results of the first year of the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation. "We have come close to systemic changes in the Ukrainian Parliament, we have obtained sufficient experience in cooperation with the Government, elaborated reform-oriented amendments, and are elaborating new approaches to the lawmaking process," he said.

Groysman added that there are "certain attempts to destabilize the situation" however, the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada expressed confidence that "snap parliamentary election would throw Ukraine back from systemic changes, as then everyone would work for the election, besides, there are whole lot of different challenges today: Russian tanks, corruption, weak judicial system and populism." He noted that "elections take much time: at first — an election campaign, then — resumption of work, and in a year everyone understands it was all in vain."

Groysman expressed hope that today "Ukraine has a momentous chance to build a quality European state." "Every political force has to have such an ambition. Let them put their political flags away," he said.
